Just experimenting...I drew this on a post-it note at work. Scanned it, saved the original pencil line and added color layers underneath the line, and some on top but then on those I brought down the opacity. What do you think?

I like this drawing, im not sure what new technique you are doing, but it is working. He is a rough and tumble pig, most likely a new yorker pig.
